Cramlington is a thriving town in South East Northumberland, with around 35,000 residents and excellent facilities including schools, housing, shopping, leisure and health.
We are also just 9 miles north of Newcastle upon Tyne, with fantastic transport links. Cramlington was originally a coal mining community with several mines around the village. The development of a new town began in 1964 which gave the area a new lease of life and a mix of residential housing and industrial estates, attracting new businesses.
We are proud of being a garden town, with many green spaces, cycling and walking paths. We also attract many visitors to our bustling shopping centres, cinema and leisure centre.
Cramlington Town Council was established in 2009 following the reorganisation of local government in Northumberland. We have 12 elected councillors and a wide range of responsibilities. Our key objectives are to ensure Cramlington has a bright future and to work well with local businesses and residents to deliver that.
