Cramlington Celebrates Its Community Champions at the 2025 #LoveCramlington Awards
Cramlington came together in celebration yesterday (28th October 2025) as residents, volunteers and local organisations were honoured at the 2025 #LoveCramlington Awards, recognising the people and groups who make the town such a vibrant, caring, and connected community.
The annual awards ceremony, organised by Cramlington Town Council, took place at The Community Hub and was hosted by Ray Spencer who highlighted the incredible spirit of kindness, dedication, and teamwork that thrives across the town.
There were nine award categories, each shining a light on those who go above and beyond to support others. Cramlington Town Council would like to say a big thank everyone that helped to put the event together and the 80+ guests that attended the awards ceremony.

Charity Award (Sponsored by Turners Funfairs)
Winner: Northern Cancer Voices
Nominees: Northern Cancer Voices, Dogs First, Bright Red Cancer Charity
Northern Cancer Voices provides a lifeline for people in Cramlington affected by cancer, offering compassion, understanding, and peer support that turns fear into hope and loneliness into friendship.
“It’s a celebration of every voice that has shared their story, every volunteer who gives their time, and every person who’s found comfort and connection through our Peer Support Programme,” said Lorna Joisce from the charity.

Community Group Award (Sponsored by Newcastle Building Society)
Winner: Cramlington Community Choir
Nominees: Cramlington Impact, Cramlington & District U3A, Cramlington Knit and Knatter
Led by Jill Brown, this 90-member choir performs at community events, care homes, and schools — spreading joy and building connections through music.

Youth Group Award (Sponsored by NE Youth)
Winner: 1st Cramlington Guides
Nominees: 242 Squadron Cramlington Air Cadets, Cramlington Voluntary Youth Project (CVYP)
The 1st Cramlington Guides provide a safe, girl-led space for members to develop leadership skills, try new challenges, and support their community.

Sports Award (Sponsored by Northumberland Football Leagues)
Winner: Northern Freestyle Karate, Cramlington Branch
Nominees: Cramlington Cricket Club, REV-Fitness DDP Yoga
Established for over 25 years, the club builds confidence, respect, and discipline while maintaining a family atmosphere.
“I am very proud of every student who does their best and our volunteer instructors who teach every lesson they can,” said branch leader Robin Harper-Coulson.

Winner: Loryn Ord
Nominees: Will Madison and Thomas Brogan, Edward Solovyov
At just 13, Loryn Ord is already a European Champion and English Title Belt holder in martial arts. She will represent Team GB at the World Championships in Thailand in March 2026.

At 88 years young, Irene Jobson spends hours each morning keeping Cramlington’s streets clean — setting an inspiring example of community pride.

Young Citizen of the Year (Sponsored by Assura)
Winner: Lydia Steventon
Nominees: Leo Jennings
Lydia, aged 16, volunteers as a young leader for Girlguiding UK and uses her ballroom dancing skills to raise funds for charity, raising over £1,000 for Children in Need.

Winner: Louise Bryant
Nominees: Libby Cripps, Leon Savage, Jill Brown
Known locally as “the wife who makes the postbox toppers”, Louise Bryant has brought colour and cheer to the town with her handmade crochet creations, delighting residents and visitors alike.
“I am truly overwhelmed, shocked and grateful to everyone who supports what I do,” said Louise. “I’m going to now sit and crochet a trophy cabinet for my award!”

Overall Winner – Jill Brown
Jill Brown has made outstanding contributions to community life through her leadership of Friends of Valley Park, Cramlington Community Choir, and Cramlington Litter Pickers United. Her efforts have enriched the wellbeing of residents and help keep Cramlington one of the cleanest towns in Northumberland.
