Cramlington’s first vehicle-activated road sign installed

July 18, 2019

Cramlington’s first vehicle-activated sign has been installed on Station Road.

The electronic sign informs drivers of the speed they are doing along the stretch of road that has a 20mph limit.
Funding for the camera came from the Small Schemes Fund of Northumberland County Councillor Mark Swinburn who is also Town Councillor for the Village Ward.
Mark said  “I am delighted to be able to fund this as it supports the wishes of local residents and it is an effective way to remind motorists of the 20mph limit along Station Road.  This is the first vehicle activated sign in the town and others will follow shortly.”

Cramlington Town Councillor Loraine De Simone, who also represents Village Ward said  “Any measure that reduces speeding in the town is to be welcomed.  Station Road is a residential area and people must be able to get in and out of their drives safely.”
