Town Mayor’s Stroke Association fundraiser
The Town Mayor of Cramlington, Loraine De Simone, has thanked those who supported her recent fundraising event for the Stroke Association which was held at St Nicholas’ Church.
Loraine said “It was a great evening. Jess Parkin from the Stroke Association gave a very informative talk and then we heard from stroke survivor Jim about his experiences.”
“Another feature of the evening was the free blood pressure sessions. Around one in six men and one in five women will have a stroke during their lifetime. A quarter of strokes happen in people under 25 years of age so it really can affect everyone.”
“We raised over £250 from the evening and I would like to express my gratitude to the many people who donated their time and money as well as those who made the fabulous selection of produce to buy such as cakes, scones, jams, chutneys, books, art and crafts etc.”
“Thank you to all the residents and my fellow councillors who supported the event – yet again Cramlington has shown support for a very good cause.”
