Thousands of flowers being planted in Cramlington
What do you do with 11,506 bedding plants?
Why, plant them in Cramlington as part of the town council’s summer floral scheme of course!
This year Cramlington Town Council’s Operations Team have sourced the plants from Durham County Council who have many years’ experience producing plants for local councils and grow an average of 750,000 plants every year.
Daryl Wood, Cramlington Town Council’s Operations and Facilities Manager said “I’m delighted with the quality of the plants from Durham council. They look extremely healthy and are a good size too – it means our displays are off to a good start and I know our operations team will do an excellent job tending to them over the summer.”
“It’s a big task – we have 17 floral towers, 52 ground beds and 54 railing planters but we all take pride in our roles making sure Cramlington looks at its blooming best.”
For those of you who like stats, this year’s planting includes 5700 begonias, 2000 geranium candy floss, 1200 petunia’s and six cordyline.
