A fun and inspirational event for Northumberland children this autumn
Is your child aged between eight to 13? Would they like to have a first class insight into the important subjects of science, technology, engineering and maths, while also having fun?
Designing your own rollercoaster; working out your ancestry from a skull; exploring Minecraft; building a water resistant, windproof, bug proof shelter; and teambuilding with the RAF will all be part of an event in Northumberland this autumn.
For just £5 young people can attend a full day run by industry experts who will stimulate their interest in these subjects, which are so important in today’s world.
Northumberland County Council has organised the STEM event and organisations involved will include the ‘STEMettes’, Newcastle University, the Royal Air Force, Northumberland Business Enterprise Partnership, and a CAS Master Teacher!
Cllr Nick Oliver, Cabinet Member for Corporate Services at Northumberland County Council, said: “Alongside delivering superfast broadband across the county, developing and improving digital skills is a high priority for the council. These skills are critical to everyday life and we want to make sure our future workforce is digitally literate and has the right skills and interests to help business to grow.
“Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) is high on the agenda for young people and through this event we want to engage their interest in these subjects alongside improving their digital skills.”
The event will take place at the Macdonald Linden Hall Hotel near Morpeth on Thursday 1st November, and run from 9.30am to 4.30pm.
An ideal opportunity for some fun learning during the October Half Term holiday and there will be plenty of event staff on hand to help youngsters have a great day.
Adults can to stay and get an insight into the world of STEM too, but this is not essential.
Lunch will be provided and there will be lots of goodies for the children to take away.
