Brownies and Councillors take on the litterbugs
Cramlington Town Councillors were delighted to accept an invitation from Cramlington 5th Brownies, to join them on a litter pick.
Councillor Christine Dunbar had previously visited the youngsters where they asked her about her role as a Councillor and they asked her how the town council deals with issues such as the environment, litter and dog mess.
She enlisted the youngsters in to her ‘Eastfield Wombles’ campaign and they were joined by Councillor Pat Heard for the litter pick which involved over twenty members of the Brownie group.
Councillor Dunbar said “It was marvellous to meet the Brownies and their enthusiasm for litter picking was great to see, they have a great understanding of the environment and want to keep their community tidy. ”
The town council can provide litter pickers, bags and Hi-Viz jackets to support groups wishing to organise a litter pick in their area. Anyone wishing to coordinate a litter pick in their area should contact their local town councillor or the town council office.
