Call for good causes to benefit from Northumberland Lottery

Do you run a community group or charity in Northumberland?

If so, Northumberland County Council has launched an opportunity for good causes to come forward and sign up to benefit from the new Northumberland Lottery.

Up to 60p from every £1 ticket will go to charities, voluntary organisations and other good causes that work in the area.

A drop-in session was held in Concordia Leisure Centre today as part of the launch where the council asked for local groups to register if they would like to benefit from the lottery which will go live later this year.

Those who would like to benefit can register now at www.northumberlandlottery.co.uk

Players of the lottery will be able to win a £25,000 jackpot, plus smaller prizes.

Cllr Nick Oliver, cabinet member for corporate services, said: “This is a really, really exciting moment, because it’s all about charities, the voluntary sector and not-for-profit organisations, and trying to support communities across Northumberland.

“I encourage people who run good causes in the county to sign up now so that they can benefit from the lottery when it gets underway in the coming months.”

A number of good causes have already signed up, with one of the first being NE Youth project who support a number of youth organisations in Cramlington.

The charity’s CEO Jon Niblo, said: “We were keen to support the lottery not only for the benefits it can bring to us as a charity and our work in Northumberland but also for the benefit it will bring to the county as a whole.”

Signing up as a good cause is easy – all you need to do is fill in a simple online form.  Once this is checked over and you’re up and running you will be able to encourage your supporters to buy tickets from your page.
