Careers Advice team ready to help you consider your options
Exam results time is fast approaching for many of Northumberland’s younger residents, and whilst it may not be the experience many had hoped for, it is a time when they will need to be considering their options.
Northumberland’s Careers Advice team are ready and waiting to help guide you on the right path. Whether you are considering further education, apprenticeships, traineeships or joining the armed forces there are multiple options out there for you.
Cath McEvoy-Carr, Executive Director for Adult and Children’s services said: “Young people across the county may not have been able to take their exams as they had prepared for, but they will still be receiving their results in August and will be considering their options for their future. They don’t need to wait until they get their results, they can start discussing their options now with our dedicated team.”
The service can also offer advice and guidance to those aged 16 – 18 who are currently unemployed.
Councillor Wayne Daley, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services said: “We’ve hit a curve ball this year with COVID19, but that does not mean someone’s future career path should be hindered.
“Apprenticeships and traineeships are a great starting point for anyone looking to get into work, find a trade or learn new skills, but if that isn’t for you the choice offered through colleges nowadays could also offer you the focus you need in finding your future career. I strongly urge you to get in contact with the team no matter what situation you find yourself in. Having a second opinion, or someone to chat through ideas with can always be of benefit.”
The team are fully qualified and experienced careers advisers. They can help young people to:
- find the opportunities they are looking for
- tell them about courses and apprenticeships in their area
- plan a route to the career they want
- and help them improve their job search skills
