Community Centre celebrates £20,000 refurbishment

September 12, 2019

Residents of East Hartford were in party mood to celebrate the opening of the Community Centre that has recently undergone a major refurbishment.

Local councillors attended the event and among them was Barry Flux who represents West Ward on Cramlington Town Council.  He said “East Hartford Community Centre is literally the beating heart of East Hartford as a village. I was delighted to attend the opening and it is great to see that funding from Cramlington Town Council, Northumberland County Council and other sources has been used to make the centre look absolutely fantastic.”

Alterations include new flooring, a PA system that can operate via Bluetooth, new tables and chairs, an improved nappy-changing facility and redecoration of all the main public areas, giving a more modern feel to the interior.

The work has been possible thanks to donations from many organisations including Cramlington Town Council, Northumberland County Council, National Lottery Awards For All, the Rothley Trust, the 1989 Willan Charitable Trust, the R.W. Mann Trust and the Barbour Foundation.
Secretary Lisa Badiali said “It was a great day and the turn out was fabulous. The committee are absolutely delighted with the improvements. The centre really is at the heart of the community who use it most days with lunch clubs, bingo, and a variety of different clubs using it for events and meetings.
