Community Chest grant on the menu at Community Centre kitchen
Through their Community Chest, Cramlington Town Council has given £500 to Cramlington Community Association towards the upgrade of their kitchen facilities in the Community Centre at East Farm Terrace in Cramlington Village.
The refurbishment project will cost over £5000 and new kitchen units will be installed as well as a fridge and flooring.
Graham Blair, treasurer of the Community Association, said: “The kitchen is used daily by a variety of groups and requires regular maintenance. We also hire the Community Centre for parties and events but the poor state of the kitchen has deterred people from booking. Footfall at the Centre is around 200 people a week and a new kitchen will enhance the sustainability of the venue and also be greatly appreciated by the many different groups that are using it at the moment.”
Cramlington Town Council’s Community and Youth Manager Maggie Martin said: “Investing in projects like this is a great use of the Council’s Community Chest as it will benefit a great range or residents and groups.”
