Cramlington Town Council has issued a statement of support and information for town residents following the coronavirus crisis. The statement is as follows:
“We are facing huge challenges in the weeks ahead. It is more important than ever that we work together as a community to help each other through this health crisis. We will share advice given to us by the NHS, Public Health England, the Government and Northumberland County Council and as your local council we also want to inform you about local developments and activities.
We will be sharing links to these sources of information below.
The many Social Media pages to which people are subscribing can be a good source of information. Please check out Cramlington Town Council’s Facebook Page which contains additional posts.
What we must avoid is good natured volunteers inadvertently spreading the disease by coming into contact with those who have the symptoms and spreading to others. There are also potential safeguarding issues because unfortunately there are people around who will prey on the vulnerable.
We’re sure our many community groups will want to stay in touch with their members to check how they are, or to provide a telephone number they can call if necessary, and likewise all of us with our nearest neighbours. A phone call to someone self – isolating may offer some welcome respite. Whatever support we give must be done without coming into personal contact.
Until we are advised otherwise, Cramlington Town Council office will be staying open and we can also be contacted via – telephone, email.
We are asking you to work with us and help us give as much information to local residents as possible so if you are involved with a community organisation, have seen a social media post you found informative or have questions about local services, get in touch with us and together we can help the Cramlington community through these challenging times.”
