As a Young Firefighter you will get the opportunity to learn firefighting skills, such as:using fire hoses, climbing ladders, road traffic collision awareness and search and rescue techniques
Each NFRS fire station has a Young Firefighters Association branch, these can be found at; Hexham, Berwick, Alnwick, Wooler, Rothbury, Pegswood and West Hartford.
Paul Hedley, Chief Fire Officer for Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service said: “The Young Firefighter Association provides a great opportunity for the young people of Northumberland to learn and develop skills valuable for any future career.
“We have dedicated training equipment for the Young Firefighters included within their own fire appliance, such as a scaled down version of a fire hose designed specifically for young people, meaning equipment is readily available and you can train in a safe environment.”
The next term of the Young Firefighters Association begins 23rd April, if you’re interested in finding out whether the Young Firefighters Association is for you, contact nfrs.cadets@northumberland
