Council funds three new Youth Clubs in Cramlington

October 25, 2022

Cramlington Town Council has announced it is funding three new Youth Clubs across the town.

The Council’s funding is enabling Cramlington Voluntary Youth Project (CVYP) to run the new clubs at Beaconhill Community Centre, Northburn Community Centre and the Church of Nazarene.

The clubs are open to youngsters aged 13-17 and is free of charge to all attendees. Participants will be given a variety of choices on what activities they’d like to see at the Clubs with CVYP providing trained staff and equipment.

For an initial trial period the clubs will run every week up until Christmas holidays then resume after New Year till the end of March.

If the initial sessions are well attended, the Council will continue to fund the provision from April 2023.

Councillor Helen Morris, Chair of Cramlington Town Council Community and Youth Committee said “This is great news for our young people. As a council we want to provide for residents of all ages, and it is important that youths can have the opportunity to hang out with their friends in a safe environment. Following incidents of anti-social behaviour in Cramlington a ‘Community Trigger’ was instigated. This requires a multi-agency approach to identifying solutions to resident’s concerns about anti-social behaviour. By funding these Youth Clubs Cramlington Town Council is confirming its commitment to tackling the issues. “

Cramlington Town Council’s Youth Manager Joe Eltringham said “Youngsters can just turn up to the Youth Clubs, no booking is required. I’m delighted that CVYP are delivering this youth provision – they are experts at what they do and are already known to many youngsters across the town. I hope lots of teenagers go along and check out the clubs. If anyone has any queries just drop me a line at Joe@cramlingtontowncouncil.gov.uk “

From Wednesday 2nd November:

Every Wednesday at Beaconhill: CVYP will be at Beaconhill estate from 6pm providing outreach work and then from 7:30-9:30 activities will be in the Community Centre.

Every Thursday CVYP will be at Northburn Community Centre between 6pm-9pm.

Every Friday CVYP will be at Church of Nazarene between 6pm-9pm.
