Council grant helps Cramlington knitters make top hats for charity

Since September the Creative Cards group in Cramlington have been busy knitting away for a special Christmas project.

They have produced 259 beautiful handmade hats that have now been placed on a Christmas tree and are free to anyone that needs one.

The group applied to Cramlington Town Council for a grant of £150 to fund the project and some of the members are pictured below in the Cramlington Hub with their tree of hats.

Cramlington Town Council’s Deputy Clerk (community), Maggie Martin said: “Our Community Chest grants are used by local groups for all sorts of projects, and this must be one of the most creative – what a brilliant idea!”
