VIDEO: Council team help clear school outdoor learning area destroyed by mindless vandals
Staff at a Cramlington Primary have spoken of their devastation following the destruction of their outdoor learning area during an attack by mindless vandals over the Bank Holiday weekend.
Jill Williams, Deputy Headteacher at Burnside Primary School, was horrified when the site manager Roger Marx reported the damage.
She said “We have invested thousands of pounds into the area – the pond alone coast over £1500. To see it full of bark and with our bird tables, hog homes, paint and even a wheelbarrow dumped in it is just soul destroying.”
“Outdoor learning is an important part of our curriculum and every class uses this area.”
“We are so grateful to the Operations Team from Cramlington Town Council who have stepped in and helped us clear the area after we contacted Councillor Swinburn.”
Cllr Mark Swinburn commented “Yet again the actions of a mindless few Cramlington residents have created havoc. With a wider perspective, the acts of vandalism over the past few weeks are giving the town a bad name and that’s not right, Cramlington is a brilliant place to live, and the majority of residents are wonderful. They will be as disappointed as I am to hear about this awful vandalism.”
