Council wins international environmental award
Cramlington Town Council is a International Gold Winner in the Green Apple Award’s Local Authority Partnership category.
These annual awards reward and promote environmental best practice and since being launched in 1994 have become recognised as one of the most popular environmental campaigns in the world.
The awards aim to improve environmental performance, encourage the efficient use of resources and support the wider goals of sustainable development including social benefits through community and staff involvement.
Cramlington Town Mayor Councillor Helen Morris said, “We were delighted to win this award as it acknowledges the importance we give to environmental issues.”
Sentiments echoed by Councillor Mark Swinburn, Chair of the services committee who added “This award is further acknowledgement of the work the council does with the fantastic community groups we have across the town that care for the local environment. It’s a great example of partnership work at its best.”
Mayor Helen Morris and Councillor Mark Swinburn are seen at the presentation ceremony with Helen Hindson from Cramlington and District Red Squirrel Group.
