Crafty bunch are delighted to gain council funding
Cramlington Town Council has given £500 to Cramlington Craft Group.
The grant is from the council’s Community Chest fund which supports community and voluntary organisations within the town.
Cramlington Craft Group formed in 1993, have around 40 members and meet weekly at Cramlington Community Centre. Presently the membership is all female but men are very welcome too.
As well as the creative aspects of the group, friendship is an important element too, particularly for the members that live alone.
Following the pandemic, the group are keen to promote the work that they do and their donation will be used for a printer as well as the purchase of crafting materials and supporting trips to places such as the glass centre in Sunderland.
Town Councillor Mark Swinburn, who represents the Village Ward, visited the group to hand the money over saying “I admire the skill set of the group members but and the wellbeing the group generates for its members. I know this donation will enable them to continue with their valuable work.”
