Cramlington Cancer Roadshow Brings Community Together on World Cancer Day

A huge thank you to everyone who attended the Cramlington Cancer Roadshow on 4 February, helping to make it such a positive, supportive, and meaningful event on World Cancer Day.

The event was officially opened by Town Mayor, Councillor Helen Morris, who welcomed attendees and highlighted the importance of community support and open conversations around cancer.

Organised together with Northern Cancer Voices, the roadshow brought together local organisations, charities, and community members to share information, offer support, and encourage open discussion. Cancer can be a difficult subject to talk about, but the event demonstrated just how valuable it is to create safe and welcoming spaces where people feel able to ask questions, share experiences, and access support.

Tori Brandison, founder of Northern Cancer Voices, thanked everyone for attending and reflected on the significance of the day, saying:

“World Cancer Day is a good time to reflect and celebrate how far we’ve come across the cancer journey. I know not everyone wants to talk about it, but please let’s keep the conversation going and please share your stories with us, because when we’re together we’re much better as a community.”

The atmosphere was further enhanced by the Ashington and District Male Voice Choir, whose live performances provided a moving and uplifting backdrop to the day.

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to all the organisations and charities who attended and took the time to have meaningful conversations about cancer support and the services they offer. Their knowledge, compassion, and willingness to engage made a real difference to those who attended.

One of the attendees, Peter Stotten from Daft As A Brush said “It was a real pleasure to be part of the Cramlington Cancer Roadshow, and we were delighted to support such an important community event. The atmosphere on the day was incredibly positive, and it was clear that the people who attended genuinely benefited from having so many services together in one place.”
