Cramlington Community Conversation set for launch
July 12, 2023
Residents in Cramlington are being encouraged to have their say as part of a drive to make the town an even better place to live, work and invest.
The new Cramlington Conversation is a major initiative to listen to the community and identify ideas for the town’s future.
It’s organised by Cramlington Town Forum, a partnership between Cramlington Town Council and Northumberland County Council and other partners.
The drop-in event will take place in the Centre Square at Manor Walks Shopping Centre on Saturday 22nd July between 10am and 3pm.
Free face painting and balloon modelling will be available on the day and the Cramlington Community Choir will open the event.
There will be a host of stall holders attending with an opportunity for residents to have a conversation about all aspects of living in Cramlington and find out more about services and activities on offer in the town.
County Council and Town council staff and councillors will be on hand alongside community organisations and service providers.
The event is just one of a number of ways residents can get involved in the Community Conversation.
The conversation will continue in community settings throughout the summer.
There will also be events for the local business community and employees to find out what they think. An online portal will be launched enabling feedback for those members of the community that can’t get to an event.
Residents will have the opportunity to say how they feel about 14 different aspects of Cramlington – from housing, safety, play and recreation to public transport and feeling safe.
You can give your opinions online by accessing https://www.ourplace.scot/tool/start/cramlington-community-conversation
The conversation will run until Autumn 2023 when all the feedback will be compiled and used to celebrate the strengths of the town and ideas for improvement.
The outcome of the conversation will be fed back to the community and there will be further engagement at future events about any plans and proposals that emerge.
Councillor Wojciech Ploszaj, Cabinet Member for Supporting Business and Opportunities at Northumberland County Council, said:
“We want to celebrate what is great about Cramlington and have a conversation about ways in which it could be even better.
“The Cramlington Conversation is about hearing what people have to say and then working together with the town to take action on those priorities.
“We’re working closely with our partners including Cramlington Town Council and the private and community sector locally to reach as many people as we can over the next few months.
“I hope the whole community will get involved in this process and help us to identify ways to make Cramlington an even better town for all to enjoy.”
Cllr Wayne Daley, County Councillor for Cramlington North and Cramlington Town Councillor said: “We’re excited to reach out to the whole community over the next few months and I hope residents will join us at the drop-in event, get involved at community events or get in touch online.
“We need to hear from people about what they think is important and the Cramlington Conversation provides the opportunity to have their say and influence how we secure and deliver improvements and investment into the town in the future.”
