Cramlington Conservation Day: Tuesday 25th July 2023

June 20, 2023

You are invited to join Cramlington Town Council for Cramlington Conservation Day 2023!

Community groups are encouraged to organise events to benefit the green spaces and wildlife that Cramlington residents are lucky to have on their doorstep.

We are delighted to announce that Potts Print have offered to provide litter picking equipment for groups and individuals who want to participate – interested? If you want to hold a litter pick, email maggie@cramlingtontowncouncil.gov.uk for more information.

The Conservation Day also offers the opportunity to go on a fantasy audio trail at Northumberlandia with Hive Storytellers where you will be entranced by a host of magical characters telling wonderful stories along a woodland trail.

The event is free but tickets must be booked through the QR code HERE

ERIC (Environmental Records Information Centre) North East, will be giving the opportunity for people to identify and map wildlife in the area. They will bring bug pots and sweep nets to carry out surveys at Horton Burn and Lanercost Nature Reserve on the day – further details and timings to follow.

Also, at Lanercost, Cramlington Community Allotment are holding an open day between 10am and 3pm. They would love you to call in and see the fantastic community projects that Northern Butterflies do there.

Sightings can also be recorded via the iNaturalist app which enables users to photograph and submit their observations. It provides help identifying anything in the natural world – plants, insects, birds, mammals, and the records then find their way into the ERIC database.

Cramlington Town Mayor Helen Morris endorsed the aims of the Conservation Day saying: “We are blessed with many wonderful green spaces in our town but at the same time we mustn’t take them for granted. I encourage all our residents to do as much as they can to keep Cramlington clean and green.”
