Cramlington Sporting Club under new management

November 23, 2021

Cramlington Sporting Club is to be transferred into new management and will continue to provide a popular facility for both the school and local residents who will be unaffected by the new arrangements.

From 1 January 2022, Cramlington Learning Village will be taking over the management and running of the facilities from Active Northumberland.

Cramlington Sporting Club is used exclusively by the school during term time hours and the wider community can take full advantage of its excellent facilities out of school hours.

It has a range of indoor and outdoor facilities including sports halls, a gym, studio and outdoor pitches. There are also netball and tennis courts, a cycle speedway track and a soft play.

The school is keen to reassure local residents that it will be continuing to make the facilities available for community hire and use outside of school hours.

Historically the club has been managed by Active Northumberland in partnership with Cramlington Learning Village, however after a review of the current operating arrangements, a mutual decision was taken to transfer the sole management to the school.

All clubs and organisations that use the Club have been contacted to inform them of the imminent change and to let them know about the new booking arrangements.

Jon Bird, co-headteacher, said: “We would like to thank Active Northumberland for making the Sporting Club an important part of our community. Our intention is to build upon their good work so that a wide range of sports clubs and other groups can continue to offer opportunities for our students and the wider community.”

Mark Warnes, Chief Executive of Active Northumberland said:

“Cramlington Sporting Club is being transferred into very good and experienced hands. The change was a logical business decision for both partners.  Active Northumberland staff will continue to work with the school during the transition period to ensure the continued success and growth of the club moving forward.”

Craig Davidge, the school’s business and finance director, said: “We will be working with Active Northumberland to ensure a smooth transition for all user groups, and we will welcome their ongoing use of our facilities.”
