Cramlington Town Council Community Chest supports Friends of Valley Park
The Friends of Valley Park is a group set up by Cramlington residents with the aim of looking after the upkeep of Valley Park’s 52 acres of woodland and green spaces.
Thanks to a Community Chest grant from Cramlington Town Council, the group have been able to purchase insurance which means they can now start undertaking maintenance work within the Park.
This includes ensuring that the woodland walks are fully accessible and safe, tending to damaged trees and clearing the way for the stream to flow through the area.
The maintenance work is just the first phase of the plans the Friends group have for the park. Other initiatives include creating an interactive walk, providing bat and bird boxes, litter picks and educational talks about the flora and fauna.
