Cramlington’s Charity Champions receive their just rewards
At the recent Cramlington Town Council #LoveCramlington ceremony, the Charity Champions award was presented to Coping with Cancer Northeast, after being selected by the award sponsor Draeger.
Not content with giving the charity £500, Nick Furno, Draeger’s Head of Community, wanted to visit the Annitsford-based charity in person and meet the team.
He said “Coping with Cancer North East are an amazing local charity who have provided vital services for over 40 years. The charity makes a real difference to the lives of those impacted by cancer – not just the people diagnosed with cancer, but their family and friends too. It is wonderful to have services like this and this dedicated team deserve recognition for the work they do.”
Coping with Cancer Chief Executive Maggie Bailey said “We are delighted to have been awarded £500.00 from Draeger Safety UK. This money will directly pay for 20 people to receive complementary therapy from us.”
“We deliver a range of support including massage, reflexology, Indian head massage and reiki for patients, carers and family members who have all been through the trauma of a cancer diagnosis.”
“This treatment is delivered at our health hub in Annitsford, where we have six treatment rooms for both therapy and counselling. This holistic care enables people to have some ‘me time’ away from family and medical staff, where they can relax and share their experiences with a professional therapist and gives them the building blocks to develop their own coping strategies to live with cancer.”
