We offer a safe, welcoming girl-only space for girls and young women to try new things, help other people and discover their passions and talents. All while having fun with a ready-made group of friends!

We’re dedicated to girls leading the way – they choose the activities, challenges and events that inspire them, and our volunteers support them to make it happen. Because girls shape and lead everything we do, we know that we’re offering the best opportunities and experiences for girls today.

Normally we meet Tuesday  7-8.30 pm  term time only but because of COVID-19  we are unable to meet face-to-face so are having weekly whats app and zoom meetings.  We have outdoor meetings in the early evening and at weekend.

Carers Northumberland is a charity dedicated to improving the lives of carers by responding to the needs of carers, informing carers of their rights and entitlements, supporting carers to access help for the person they care for, reducing the social isolation that so many carers feel and empowering carers to have a voice.

Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm

Re Covid-19:

We would usually hold our carers support groups face to face within the community but due to COVID 19 this was not safe, so instead we have been holding all our carers support groups via Zoom and teleconference calls. We also contacted many of our most isolated carers via telephone to see how they were. Due to the success and uptake of our Zoom carers groups we have now started to provide carers workshops via Zoom. We also increased the frequency of our carers newsletter to keep all our carers up to date with ever changing guidance.

Details about all our carers groups and workshops can be found on our newsletter and on our Facebook page. Carers can register themselves on our website, via telephone or professional referrals can be made on their behalf to Carers Northumberland

Cramlington Doorstep Walks is a series of way marked short walks in and around the town, suitable for people of all ages and abilities, which are easily accessible ‘from your doorstep’.

The town already has a comprehensive and well established cycling and walking network and the project will help to redefine the routes for local people, while identifying opportunities for further development.

Doorstep walks have been developed in South East, West and North Cramlington, each signposted with colourful new waymarkers stating direction, distances and estimated completion time to walk the coloured route. Information stands have been erected on each walk to explain the various routes and a new glossy leaflet has been created which will be posted to every household in Cramlington throughout July.

The walks vary in length, most being between 1.5 to 3 miles in distance, which could take between 30 minutes to an hour to walk.

‘Cramlington Folk Club was established in 1972 and we are one of the longest running folk clubs in the country. We meet every Wednesday, starting at 7.30 pm.

There are guest performers every other week and singers nights in between. It’s quite common to have as many as twelve to fourteen acts on singers nights!

We have always provided a wide variety of music and styles from traditional and contemporary folk to blues and bluegrass. If you are in the area please drop in, you may be pleasantly surprised.

Everyone is welcome, whether to perform or just to enjoy the music and have a drink. Singers wishing to perform should make sure their name is on the list by 8pm at the latest.

We are proud to be known as one of the friendliest clubs in the Country’.

Meetings suspended due to COVID-19

Healthwise is a women’s group whose aim is to promote health and wellbeing.

They meet weekly and enjoy a varied programme of speakers, quizzes and entertainment.

They also aim to inform members about organisations relating to health and social issues.

This is done with friendly chats over a cuppa in a warm and welcoming environment.

Normally they meet between 10-12 on a Thursday but because of COVID-19 these meetings have been suspended.

The friendship of the group is still being maintained as members have telephoned each other, received postcards and committee members have also made welfare calls.

The committee have held a social-distanced meeting to plan for when they can resume meetings and how to offer support. We will update this post once there is news about meetings resuming.

Our aim is to ensure children stay in sports for life.

We believe there is a different way. A way that instills a love of sport and increases the chances of life long participation and all the benefits this brings We are an evidence/research based company that uses the latest coaching theory to provide the best possible environment for children to learn.

We are now running smaller group sessions with enhanced safety procedures and  utilised online training during lockdown.

Monday – Friday 9-8pm, Saturday 9-1pm

As an organisation we use Futsal as a tool to create a fun and enjoyable athlete centred environment. In which children are freely encouraged to make their own decisions and choices as mistakes are encouraged so that the children are able to learn with no pressure.

Allowing children to be creative, think for themselves, problem solve and be individuals. Not particularly interested in tactics or helping children to win games but instead to use the sport to enable children to be better people and then better sports people.

The club has decided to maintain its current stance of no club activity at this time however they are hopeful of being able to restart some activity in September.

We will update this post when new information is made available.

On 19th June, the RFL published its Rugby League Return to Play Plan for the Community Game, building on the latest advice from Government (DCMS) and Sport England.

Having reviewed the information, the club has decided to maintain its current stance of no club activity at this time. Our training venue remains closed and we are not comfortable we can provide a training area with sufficient health and safety requirements.

What is in the RFL guidance?

In the published document, the RFL sets out what activity is allowed aligned with the government’s 5-step alert level.

The alert level recently dropped from level 4 to level 3, meaning the virus is in general circulation and there is a gradual relaxation of restrictions.

This aligns to the RFL Return To Play Stage 2 where only small group based activity with social distancing measures in place is allowed. This is where we are now.

What is the Next Stage?

When the Government Alert system moves from Level 3 to Level 2, this will align with the RFL Return to Play Stage 3.

Stage 3 allows social rugby league with social distancing criteria reduced. This would take the form of tag or touch rugby, progressing over time to X-League style semi-contact, albeit with rule adaptions to reduce the risk.

At Stage 3, full contact is still restricted with no leagues or competitions activity allowed.

When will we return?

When the RFL guidance moves to Stage 3, the club will consider returning to some form of activity, subject to a review of the risks, venue availability and the prevailing government advice.

Until then, no official activity is permitted by any members of the club, regardless of efforts to following the available guidance.

When will it go back to normal?

We will return to ‘normal’ (contact rugby and competitive activity) when the RFL Return to Play reaches Stage 4. This aligns with the government alert system moving from Level 2 (Number of cases and transmission is low) to Level 1 (COVID-19 is no longer present in the UK).

Any returns will be phased and following RFL guidance. We cannot say when that will be but as we have said before, we do not intend to be leaders in returning to activity, instead observing and understanding what other sports and clubs encounter in terms of processes and challenges. The safety of all our members remains of the utmost priority.

If you have any questions, please get in touch via your Team Manager or social media.
