St. Nicholas’ Church is the traditional church visible in the middle of the town and as such is a popular venue for weddings and baptisms.

Several congregations using different styles of worship meet at St. Nicholas’ Church. The 8am Sunday service is quiet and reflective with little or no music. The 10am service on Sunday is a celebration for families and people of all ages. The Wednesday morning service is a quieter service but does include hymns. The Prayer and Praise service is free-style, using a variety of styles of worship and includes a lot of music.

‘You may have passed by our little church building on Durham Road and wondered what on earth the Church of the Nazarene is and why does it exist here in Cramlington. A commonly asked question is “What type of church are you”? Firstly, we are part of the church of Jesus Christ which has been around for centuries, and we work under the name of the Church of the Nazarene which is part of the worldwide church of Christ.’

Sunday Worship:  We meet on Sunday morning and evening were we worship through song, prayer, music, bible reading and of course, the preaching and explanation of God’s word.  On the first Sunday of every month we have a Missionary Service in the evening and on the last Sunday of each month we have our Prayer/Care/Share service. And there is always time for a cup of tea/coffee and biscuit to talk afterwards.

Sunday Morning Service: 10:30pm    Sunday Evening Service: 6:30pm

Breakfast Club:

We run a breakfast club on a Monday morning at the Pavilion in Shankhouse. Come and join us for a sausage, egg and bacon roll with a nice wee cuppa!

Life Group:

On Tuesday evenings we run a prayer and bible study. Everyone is welcome to join. It is an informal conversation around God’s word in which we discuss and share. This is led by our pastoral team. Prayer is part of our Christian life and we seek, as a church, to give time to pray to God for the world, our community, church and families.

Tuesday at 7:30pm

Costa Bible Study:

Every week we meet at Costa in Cramlington to unpack Scripture together. The Bible says faith comes from hearing the word of God; so to help us grow and understand our faith we believe in opening, reading and discussing what God is saying to us and individuals and as a body. So please come and join us if you are free.

Wednesday 10am

House Of Prayer:

The church building will be open every Thursday for a time of prayer. We believe that prayer is important and needs to be central to the life of the church. This is a place and space for everyone to come when they are free to spend time in the presence of God away from the hustle and bustle of life. Each week there will be challenging thoughts and activities to help engage our meditation and prayers to our God.

Thursday at 6am-9pm

Open Door:

This fellowship group meets on Thursday afternoons and is open to anyone who is able to come. Bring your lunch, enjoy a cup of tea/coffee and a little chat. It is about coming together, getting to know one another, not taking ourselves seriously and enjoying with one another. We open up Scripture and share what the Lord has placed on our hearts to encourage each other.

Starts at 1pm (prayer at 12:30pm)

St. Peter’s meets in the hall at Northburn Primary School on Horton Drive.  They are a small, friendly congregation, offering a warm welcome to all, including families and young children.

The café church services on the first Sunday of each month are especially relaxed, with an emphasis on food and drink, craft activities and making new friends.  If you haven’t been to church in a while, café church could be a good place to start.  No advance notice needed – just turn up, you’ll be very welcome.

Our aim is to ensure children stay in sports for life.

We believe there is a different way. A way that instills a love of sport and increases the chances of life long participation and all the benefits this brings We are an evidence/research based company that uses the latest coaching theory to provide the best possible environment for children to learn.

We are now running smaller group sessions with enhanced safety procedures and  utilised online training during lockdown.

Monday – Friday 9-8pm, Saturday 9-1pm

As an organisation we use Futsal as a tool to create a fun and enjoyable athlete centred environment. In which children are freely encouraged to make their own decisions and choices as mistakes are encouraged so that the children are able to learn with no pressure.

Allowing children to be creative, think for themselves, problem solve and be individuals. Not particularly interested in tactics or helping children to win games but instead to use the sport to enable children to be better people and then better sports people.

Meetings suspended due to COVID-19

Healthwise is a women’s group whose aim is to promote health and wellbeing.

They meet weekly and enjoy a varied programme of speakers, quizzes and entertainment.

They also aim to inform members about organisations relating to health and social issues.

This is done with friendly chats over a cuppa in a warm and welcoming environment.

Normally they meet between 10-12 on a Thursday but because of COVID-19 these meetings have been suspended.

The friendship of the group is still being maintained as members have telephoned each other, received postcards and committee members have also made welfare calls.

The committee have held a social-distanced meeting to plan for when they can resume meetings and how to offer support. We will update this post once there is news about meetings resuming.

The club has decided to maintain its current stance of no club activity at this time however they are hopeful of being able to restart some activity in September.

We will update this post when new information is made available.

On 19th June, the RFL published its Rugby League Return to Play Plan for the Community Game, building on the latest advice from Government (DCMS) and Sport England.

Having reviewed the information, the club has decided to maintain its current stance of no club activity at this time. Our training venue remains closed and we are not comfortable we can provide a training area with sufficient health and safety requirements.

What is in the RFL guidance?

In the published document, the RFL sets out what activity is allowed aligned with the government’s 5-step alert level.

The alert level recently dropped from level 4 to level 3, meaning the virus is in general circulation and there is a gradual relaxation of restrictions.

This aligns to the RFL Return To Play Stage 2 where only small group based activity with social distancing measures in place is allowed. This is where we are now.

What is the Next Stage?

When the Government Alert system moves from Level 3 to Level 2, this will align with the RFL Return to Play Stage 3.

Stage 3 allows social rugby league with social distancing criteria reduced. This would take the form of tag or touch rugby, progressing over time to X-League style semi-contact, albeit with rule adaptions to reduce the risk.

At Stage 3, full contact is still restricted with no leagues or competitions activity allowed.

When will we return?

When the RFL guidance moves to Stage 3, the club will consider returning to some form of activity, subject to a review of the risks, venue availability and the prevailing government advice.

Until then, no official activity is permitted by any members of the club, regardless of efforts to following the available guidance.

When will it go back to normal?

We will return to ‘normal’ (contact rugby and competitive activity) when the RFL Return to Play reaches Stage 4. This aligns with the government alert system moving from Level 2 (Number of cases and transmission is low) to Level 1 (COVID-19 is no longer present in the UK).

Any returns will be phased and following RFL guidance. We cannot say when that will be but as we have said before, we do not intend to be leaders in returning to activity, instead observing and understanding what other sports and clubs encounter in terms of processes and challenges. The safety of all our members remains of the utmost priority.

If you have any questions, please get in touch via your Team Manager or social media.
