Exhibiting the history of East Hartford and Nelson Village
Proud to reflect our local heritage, Cramlington Town Council is looking to increase the number of history boards around the town.
The existing three displays recount how the different areas of the town have developed.
The town’s history is closely entwined with the mining industry and it then faced a major change in the 1960’s with the development of the new town.
Further history boards have been planned to specifically showcase the history of Nelson Village and East Hartford but unfortunately these have been delayed due to restrictions put in place to combat COVID-19.
Northumberland Archives are currently closed and only a limited service has been available during the pandemic which has prevented research from being undertaken.
The boards will be completed and installed as soon as the Archives are open again.
Local Councillor Pat Heard stated “We are very disappointed that the project has been delayed due to current pandemic. We want the history boards to be the best they can be and this can only happen when full access to the archives is possible.
