In the year that is celebrating the historical occasion of a Platinum Jubilee, Cramlington u3a decided it was only right to mark the occasion by organising an exhibition that celebrated the history of Cramlington – a town that has seen extraordinary changes over the years.
Step forward local historian Brian Godfrey, who has a passion for the town, and his collection of memorabilia which included include photographs, cards, banners and newspapers.
‘Cramlington: The Way We Were’ is available to view at Cramlington Community Hub from the 1st to the 10th of June.
Cramlington Town Mayor Lorraine De Simone officially opened the exhibition today saying, “I thought I knew Cramlington well but there are scenes here I’ve never viewed before and it is fascinating to look at the places and the people that have helped to shape the town as we know it today.”
“I congratulate the ua3 , Brian Godfrey and Cramlington Town Council for the work they have put in to staging the exhibition. I’m sure it will gain a lot of interest from people delving into our town’s historic past.”
