Focus on Northumberland Pride
Northumberland County Council is supporting Northumberland Pride Week and hosting a photography exhibition by Trinity LGBT youth group ‘Under One Roof’ on Friday 1st June between 2-3 pm in County Hall reception.
Northumberland Pride Week will run from 28th May to 3rd June to raise awareness of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender (LGBT+) culture and heritage, promote LGBT+ equality and unite communities at fun, family friendly events.
As part of Northumberland Pride Week, Northumberland Council are displaying the photography exhibition by ‘Under One Roof’. The Trinity LGBT youth group worked with photographer Phyllis Christopher to develop the project which explores issues of identity and representation. As part of the presentation, members of the group will talk about their experiences, both positive and negative, of being young and LGBT+ in Northumberland.
Peter Jackson, Leader of Northumberland County Council said: “We are proud to support Northumberland Pride Week and look forward to welcoming the Trinity LGBT youth group to showcase their photography exhibition. We want to make the council an inclusive and welcoming place for all communities. Members of the public are invited to attend the exhibition to support and listen to the young people and their message.”
