FREE event to aid Cramlington residents facing leasehold issues
A leasehold information evening has been organised by a local estate agent as he tries to help Cramlington residents deal with the ‘ticking time bomb’ of issues associated with houses and flats purchased with leasehold agreements.
During the Cramlington housing boom of the 1960’s and onwards, most of the housing was purchased with a 99-year lease. Now time is running out for these house and flat owners to resolve the leasehold issues and many of them are facing bills of thousands of pounds if they want to move, re-mortgage, take equity release or bequeath their home to family members.
Local Estate agent Paul Reynolds from Cramlington-based Renown estate agents has organised a FREE leasehold advice event for residents in this situation.
Paul explains: “Buying the freehold or extending your lease is essential but it can be complicated and costly, especially if you make the wrong decision – but doing nothing is not an option either.”
“I have organised a free event in Cramlington Village Club on May 9 with experts on-hand to answer residents’ questions without any obligation to sign up for their services.”
“Robert Kaye is a Chartered Surveyor who specialises in valuation and negotiation and is already well known to those who have used him to deal with their freeholders, saving many of them thousands of pounds.”
“I’ve also invited James Godden who is a solicitor and partner with Clarke Mairs, one of the Legal 500 Recommended Lawyers. He is a member of the Association of Leasehold Enfranchisement Practitioners.”
“Robert and James are experts in their fields and giving their time entirely free of charge.”
“So, if you, or anybody you know is facing leasehold issues, I urge you to come along and find out what your options are. The longer the matter is left unresolved the more it could cost you.”
“I must thank the Village Club committee who are kindly giving us the room free of charge. You can just turn up and you will be seen but it would be very helpful if people would book a free place via this Eventbrite link and that will give us an idea of how many people to expect.”
