GALLERY: Pictures from Sunday’s Remembrance service

November 12, 2019

Here is a selection of our photographs from the Act of Remembrance in Cramlington on Sunday.

A service was in St Nicholas’ Church followed by a wreath laying ceremony at the War Memorial.

The wreath layers included Cramlington Town Mayor, Loraine De Simone who said “Yet again the people of our town turned out to pay their respects to the fallen. Young and old, residents and organisations – I was moved to see so many people there. Thank you all – I am so proud to be a resident of Cramlington.”

Chairman of the Cramlington Branch of the Royal British Legion Joe Wallace said ” On behalf of the Cramlington Branch of the Royal British Legion, I would like to say a big thankyou to Cramlington Town Council for all of their hard work over the last few weeks to prepare the town for its annual Service of Remembrance.  Not only for ensuring that the village looked its best on Remembrance Sunday and keeping everyone safe but for  all of their efforts in putting up the lamp post poppies. Thanks also must be given the Cramlington WI and knitters for the poppies around the village.A big well done should go to all of our local youth groups who were on parade. Everyone was very smart and well turned out and I am sure all of your parents were very proud as were we so thank you to all of the detachment commanders and group leaders. The Branch would also like to thank all of the local shops and businesses in and around the town for taking donations through the sale of poppies from their customers. Last and by no means least to all of the residents of Cramlington who have made donations towards the Poppy Appeal. Without your generosity and support, the Royal British Legion would not be able to support our veterans.”
