Garden waste scheme re-opens to new customers
Northumberland County Council’s popular garden waste collection scheme has re-opened to new customers.
Garden waste has continued to be collected throughout the coronavirus lockdown, although there was a suspension on new people signing up for the service.
Now, after reviewing the capacity of existing garden waste routes, the council has confirmed it can reopen the scheme to new customers in the areas where it already offers this valued service.
Subscribing to the garden waste kerbside collection service can save time and fuel, as well as mess in your vehicle. The scheme operates from early March to the end of November/beginning of December.

The re-opening will be kept under constant review but the council will do everything it can to accommodate as many new customers as possible.
Councillor Glen Sanderson, Cabinet Member for Environment and Local Services, said: “We know how much people value this scheme and we were pleased to be able to keep it running over recent weeks.
“We are now in a position where we can take on more new customers in locations we already provide the service.”
