Get on your bikes – for the Cramlington Cycle Challenge!
You are invited to test your pedal power and join in the Cramlington Town Council Cycle Challenge to celebrate the Northumberland stage of the OVO Tour of Britain. The challenge is being run in conjunction with the Cramlington Youth Activities Showcase.
Both events are being held on Monday 2nd September, between 11am and 3pm, at Manor Walks shopping centre in Cramlington. Exercise bikes will be placed in Manor Walks and members of the public are being asked to help reach the target distance of 182 km (114 miles). This is the actual distance of the Northumberland leg of the Tour of Britain.
Don’t panic – we are not asking you to cycle the whole distance! You are invited to cycle a mile, which should take between 5 and 7 minutes, and by taking part you will also be in with a chance to win one of a selection of fantastic prizes.
The cycle challenge will also benefit local charities, with a collection point in place for each of the four bicycles.
The Cramlington Youth Activities Showcase is taking place at the same time in Manor Walks Shopping Centre and Concordia Leisure Centre.
Youth groups that work with 11 to 19 year-olds will be highlighting the opportunities and clubs that are available in the town and there will also be performances from some of the talented youngsters.
Agencies involved in the organisation of these events include Cramlington Town Council, Active Northumberland, Concordia Leisure Centre and Manor Walks Shopping and Leisure.
