Giant poppy scheme receiving good support – and there is still time to sponsor one for this year’s display

Over £500 has so far been raised by residents and businesses sponsoring the giant poppies that adorn Cramlington’s lamp posts in the run up to Remembrance Sunday.

Named below are those people who have given a donation and there is still time for you take part in the scheme which raises funds for the  Royal British Legion.

If you would like to sponsor a poppy you can call in to the Cramlington Town Council office, Surveyors House, Blagdon Terrace, NE23 1DN  between the hours of 10am and 3pm, Monday to Friday.

All donations will be passed on to the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal via the Cramlington branch.

Cramlington Royal British Legion Branch chairman, Joe Wallace said, “It was fantastic to see the main  routes coming into Cramlington lined with poppies last year and it was  all the more special being the 100th year marking the Armistice.
It just goes to show the generosity of the local businesses and townspeople of Cramlington giving their thanks to those who sacrificed their lives so that we can live in peace”.
