Young people from south east Northumberland have been going round and round in circles – as they developed their Hula Hooping skills thanks to support from local community groups and some expert tuition from coach Lisa Saxton.

Dan Straughan, Cramlington Town Council’s Youth Development Co-ordinator said “The whole experience has been fantastic. People of all ages have been joining in and learning how to Hula Hoop. It was great to be involved in a large-scale community project that involved groups such as Weareise_ne, Leading Link, Bedlington Together as well as the Cramlington Youth Network. Hoops were delivered to people’s homes and they embraced the challenge by putting in lots of practice. A few bruises were gained along the way but that’s all part of the fun! It’s a fantastic way to keep active – something we are all more aware of because of lockdown. It really has lifted people’s spirits.”
