Health Information Week 2019 in Northumberland Libraries
Libraries across Northumberland will be focusing on helping local residents to access information to help them manage their health and wellbeing as part of National Health Information week, which takes place from the 1st-7th July.
High quality health information can have a huge impact on people’s ability to stay healthy and manage illnesses effectively, giving them a better quality of life.
Libraries will be working with local NHS partners during the week including Northumberland Health Trainers who will be visiting Morpeth Library on Monday 1st July from 9.30 -12.30 and Hexham Library on the morning of Wednesday 3rd July (9.30am-12noon) to provide a range of high quality advice, information and signposting to local services.
Information stands will also be available in the atrium at Hexham Hospital on Monday 1st July and in the canteen at Wansbeck hospital on Thursday 4th July from 12-2pm
Many libraries will be featuring displays of health related books and information, including information on The Reading Agency’s Reading Well promotions: “Reading Well for Mental Health” and “Reading Well for people with Long Term Health conditions” and ‘Shelf Help’ for young people. The books have all been recommended by health professionals and people with experience of the conditions covered.
As part of libraries commitment to improving health, and supporting creative writing, Blyth Library will be running a taster session called “Creative Writing for Wellbeing” on Friday 12th July from 10am – 12pm. The session will be free and will be open to all, regardless of writing experience and will be a good opportunity for anyone who has thought about creative writing but has not taken those first steps. If successful, it may lead to a group meeting at Blyth Library on a regular basis.
Places are limited but can be booked beforehand at Eventbrite: http://nlandlibs.eventbrite.
