Introducing your new councillors…

Following the recent election in August, Cramlington Town Council has two new members representing the Eastfield Ward.

Alan Smith has been elected as a Town and County Councillor for Eastfield. A Cramlington resident for over 30 years Alan is originally from Sunderland but is proud to now call Cramlington his home and has no intention of ever leaving: “Cramlington is the place for me, it’s a wonderful town and I’m delighted to now have a position as Councillor.”

“My working life was based around mental health, and I retired just as COVID struck. I then became involved in the Friends of Valley Park group and this stimulated my interest in local and civic affairs.”

“Following encouragement from other members of the Town Council and discussing my wish to be further involved with the local environment and community groups, I decided to stand for election.”

“I’ve been an allotment holder for many years and as I try and keep fit I am often out and about in the town. I look forward to meeting and representing the residents of Eastfield within the Council.”

Mark Morris was also elected to Cramlington Town Council in August’s election.

With a background in the financial services industry for many years, mainly as an IT consultant, Mark is now the Business Manager of a childcare centre based in Cramlington.

Mark also volunteers for Daft as a Brush Cancer Care, as a driver or companion for patients going to the Freeman Hospital.

Following his election Mark commented: “I want to support residents who have local issues and try to make Eastfield and Parkside estates great and enjoyable places to live. I’m looking forward to assisting the Town Council in keeping Cramlington the great place it is.”
