Just 5 Days Left to Nominate for the #LoveCramlington Awards!

Time is running out to nominate someone brilliant for this year’s #LoveCramlington Awards – nominations close in just 5 days, on 31st August 2026.

If you know someone who deserves recognition, here’s a reminder of our categories:

• Citizen of the Year – someone who goes above and beyond to help others in our community
• Young Citizen of the Year – a young person, aged 17 or under, who’s done something selfless for others
• Community Group Award – a group that supports, connects or improves life in Cramlington
• Youth Group Award – a group helping young people build skills, confidence or community spirit
• Charity of the Year – a local charity making a real difference
• Green Award – an individual or group protecting and promoting our environment
• Sports Award – an adult athlete, team, coach or club excelling in sport
• Youth Sports Award – a young athlete or team, aged 17 or under, showing real dedication
• Business Award CSR – new for 2026, celebrating businesses that go above and beyond for our community

We’d like to take some time to say a big thank you to our overall award sponsor, Cramlington Renewable Energy Developments Limited (CRED)

CRED owns and operates the Cramlington Biomass Combined Heat & Power plant, which has been generating low-carbon electricity and steam for neighbouring businesses – and exporting renewable power to the National Grid – since 2018.

Earlier this year, CRED contacted Cramlington Town Council to find out about local community projects they could get involved with, supporting projects that promote the economic, social and environmental sustainability of the area, with a particular focus on biodiversity and sustainability education. As a result, CRED has supported five of Cramlington’s Community Centres – Mayfield, East Hartford, Nelson Village, Cramlington Village and Beaconhill – along with the Memory Lane dementia support group.

David Whitehurst from CRED said: “CRED has seen first-hand just how much time and dedication local volunteers give to support their community, often without much recognition. As overall sponsor of the #LoveCramlington Awards, CRED is proud to help shine a light on that hard work.”

You can also pick up a paper nomination form from reception at Cramlington Town Council offices, 27/28 Bamburgh House (upstairs in Manor Walks), where you’ll also find a box to submit your completed nomination.
