The Cramlington street cleansing team have been testing out a new caged refuse collection vehicle which, unlike the previous van, has a hydraulic bin lifter.

The team, which is part of the Cramlington Partnership between Cramlington Town Council and Northumberland County Council, empty 300 litter bins a week as well as responding to incidents of fly-tipping and littering.

From April 2019 to date, the team, who operate seven days a week,  have collected 79,600kg of waste from the streets of Cramlington.
