Cramlington Town Council’s new representative for the North ward is Helen Welsh, who was the clear winner in Thursday’s election.

Helen’s working life was based in the financial sector, latterly as technical support and underwriting manager for Northern Rock.

When Helen, 57, came to Cramlington twenty years ago she recognised the need for good provision of childcare and this led to her being involved for the last two decades with Cramlington Kids Club.

Childcare provision has remained an area of interest to Helen who acknowledges that it has improved vastly over the last 20 years but sees it as an area where there is always room for improvement.

Helen is proud to come from the North East and promoting Cramlington and the wider area is one area of council work she is looking forward to.

She said “Being recently retired I eagerly anticipate the new opportunities my role within Cramlington Town Council will bring.

I’m looking forward to working with my fellow councillors and with the residents of North ward and relish the challenges that lie ahead.”
