New plots created at Storey Street Allotments

Cramlington Town Council has created six new allotments following the redevelopment of part of their Storey Street allotment site.

The council cleared some plots that had fallen into a state of disrepair with previous tenants and took the opportunity to divide the area into plots of a more manageable size.

Councillor Mark Swinburn, Chairman of the council’s Development and Strategic Management committee said “We have a big waiting list for allotments and I’m delighted that we were able to create six plots which are still a good size by funding the clearance of the site. The process was aided by consultation with members of the council’s Allotment Forum where each allotment site has a representative. The six new allotments have already been allocated and I look forward to seeing the development of the plots.”
