New Youth Panel works to enhance the lives of Cramlington’s younger residents

Cramlington Town Council is one of the key organisations to have joined the newly formed Cramlington Youth Panel.
The group is dedicated to enhancing the lives of young people in Cramlington and was formed by Sergeant Dave Turner, a member of the Cramlington Neighbourhood Policing Team.
While impressed with the amount of opportunities on offer for young people in the town he felt that the panel would allow all the partners to work together, share intelligence around areas of concern and support each other.
Sgt Turner said: “By working together and pooling our resources we can work smarter and promote and support and build on each other’s work to maximise the outreach available and ultimately steer children away from trouble.”
As well as the town council, The Newcastle United Foundation, Cramlington Voluntary Youth Project, Northumberland Fire and Rescue, Youth Justice and a collection of local politicians have joined the group.
Steve Beaty, Cramlington Town Council’s Youth Network Co-ordinator said: “By working together, the organisations on this panel will be able to develop a co-ordinated approach to supporting young people in Cramlington. For example by highlighting age-appropriate activites and recognising secure locations we hope to encourage youngsters to meet in a safe environment. The panel is facilitating improved communication between the various organisations and that can only have a positive benefit for our younger residents.”
