Nominate your local heroes in our #LoveCramlington awards!
The search is on for people and organisations that make a difference as Cramlington Town Council launch their #LoveCramlington Awards 2021.
Town Mayor Loraine De Simone explained: “We want to say ‘thank you’ and acknowledge the people of Cramlington who go the extra mile for the benefit of our community. Hopefully we are past the worst of the pandemic but it has still been a difficult 18 months for individuals, communities and voluntary groups and the Town Council wants to honour local people of all ages and community groups who make a positive contribution to the district.
Councillor Helen Welsh, Chairman of the Council’s Community and Youth Committee said: “I hope the people of Cramlington will support the event by nominating those amazing people who deserve such recognition. If you know a person or group who has done something extraordinary to improve people’s lives, please take the time to nominate them so they can receive a public thank you.”
The categories are:
- Citizen of the Year
- Young Citizen of the Year
- Sports Award
- Youth Sports Award
- Green Cramlington Award
- Charity Champion
- Business Champion
- Youth Group
- Community Group
- Culture Award
- Volunteer Award
And from these one will be declared the #LoveCramlington Champion 2021 and receive £500 from Draeger.
Other sponsors include Northumbria Police, Newcastle Building Society, Britishvolt, Northumberland Communities Together, Dogs First, Mental Health Concern and Asda.
Cramlington Town Council Community Engagement Officer Maggie Martin said: “This is the third year we have held these awards and I’m pleased to see that this year we have attracted sponsors for some of the individual awards – if anyone else is able to sponsor an award please get in touch with me!”
“I must also thank Northumberland Communities Together who have agreed to host the presentation event in the new community hub and provide a buffet.”
The deadline for the nominations is October 31st. Nominations can be made via a form accessed on #LoveCramlington nomination form via paper forms which will available at community buildings across the town.
A shortlist will be drawn up and then an independent judging panel will meet later in the year to choose the shortlist and winners. The event will culminate in an awards ceremony at the Cramlington Community Hub on January 27th.
