Notice Of Annual Governance & Accountability Return

NOTICE OF PUBLIC RIGHTS AND PUBLICATION OF ANNUAL GOVERNANCE & ACCOUNTABILITY RETURN
 
Accounts for the year ended 31st March 2020 Local Audit and Accountability Act 2014 Sections 25, 26 and 27  The Accounts and Audit Regulations 2015 (SI 2015/234)

The Council is required to prepare an Annual Governance and Accountability Return (AGAR).  The AGAR has been published approved by the Council at its meeting held on the 28th May 2020.  A recording of this meeting, the AGAR and full accounts have been published on the Council’s website.

Any person interested has the right to inspect and make copies of the AGAR, the accounting records for the financial year to which it relates and all books, deeds, contracts, bills, vouchers, receipts and other documents relating to those records.

Due to the restrictions necessitated by the Covid-19 crisis, visits to the Council offices are only available by appointment.  Wherever, practical requested information can be supplied using the internet or by post to Adam Harvey (Administration Manager).

The Council has an open policy and will answer question throughout the year.  However, the Regulations require the publication of a formal inspection period.

Inspection Period starts on the 15th June 2020 and ends on the 31st July 2020

Local government electors and their representatives also have the opportunity to question the appointed auditor about the accounting records and to make an objection which concerns a matter in respect of which the appointed auditor could either make a public interest report or apply to the court for a declaration that an item of account is unlawful.  Written notice of an objection must first be given to the auditor and a copy sent to the Council.
