Pupils learn the value of democracy
Democracy Day at Hareside Primary has encouraged the pupils to work on a series of projects that would be of benefit to the whole school.
Each of the twelve classes developed an idea that was environmentally friendly, within a £150 budget, was sustainable and fit in with the school’s healthy values.
Cramlington Town Councillor Mark Swinburn met with the School Council to give them support and explain how democracy works for the benefit of all. He said ‘It was a pleasure to work with the pupils. All their schemes were well thought out. The project that the School Council thought was the best was from Class 6W. They want to create a diary room which will encourage pupils to feel comfortable speaking about issues that may be troubling them. It’s a brilliant idea!’
