Response to Town Council Free School Meal Holiday Vouchers

October 27, 2020

The response to Cramlington Town Council’s Free School Meal Holiday Voucher scheme has demonstrated the clear need for such provision within the local community.

Town Mayor Loraine De Simone said “On the first day of the scheme being active we received over 100 applications. To me that is an indication that the council made the correct decision by earmarking funds to help local families who are in need of additional support during the school holidays.

I’m incredibly proud of our town council coming together to address this situation. We don’t want any child in our town being a victim of ‘holiday hunger’.

It is also interesting to note that other local councils are now instigating similar plans of action to help their residents.”

Parents or carers of eligible children are asked to contact Cramlington Town Council, in strict confidence, to apply for the £20 per week, per child vouchers. This can be done by telephone on 01670 707831 between the hours of 9.30 – 11am and 1.30 – 3.30pm Monday to Friday or by email anytime at  admin@cramlingtontowncouncil.gov.uk.

Please note the deadline for applications is 11am on Thursday 29th October.

Details will be verified with the schools and Northumberland County Council and the applicants will then be contacted and given a date and time to collect the voucher from the town council office in Manor Walks.

The ASDA voucher is non-transferable and can only be used for food.
