Saying it with flowers…
A wonderful floral tribute to mark The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee has taken pride of place in Manor Walks Shopping Centre.
The celebratory arch was designed and decorated by St Nicholas Church Sanctuary Guild. A spokesperson said: “We are very proud to be part of this project for The Queen’s Jubilee.”
“St. Nicholas Sanctuary Guild is a small group of ladies who are responsible for the floral arrangements in Church. We were delighted to be asked to help with the Jubilee celebrations by creating a floral arch in Manor Walks. We have used approximately twenty different types of flowers and a wonderful variety of foliage. The arch is probably the largest single placement we have done.”
A substantial wooden framework was required to form the arch and this was crafted by Cramlington Man Shed whose founder Alan Mertsch said: “We are very proud of the skills and people at the Man Shed who were involved with this project. With the beautiful flowers and striking emblem it makes a fitting tribute to Her Majesty.”
The arch was commissioned by Cramlington Town Council and Town Mayor Loraine De Simone is delighted with the result. “Isn’t it beautiful? And definitely a unique tribute – I’ve certainly never seen anything like it elsewhere. I note it contains flowers from across the United Kingdom, the Thistle from Scotland, Rose from England, Daffodil from Wales and Shamrock from Northern Ireland.”
“It’s been a great collaboration between the Town Council, the Sanctuary Guild, Cramlington Man Shed and Manor Walks. Well done to all involved.”
