Sensory garden development in Alexandra Park

 

Visitors to Alexandra Park will have noticed ground works taking place around the restored pit wheel – this is all part of the development of a new sensory garden.

The concept is to provide a traditional landscaped garden within the park and designs were drawn up by Northumberland County Council.

As well as money from Cramlington Town Council funding has also come from Northumberland County Council, Banks Mining and councillors Allan Hepple, Mark Swinburn and Christine Dunbar.

The area will include a history board that records the town’s mining heritage and a star-gazing information point.

After the hard landscaping has been completed there will be a programme of planting before the opening in the spring.
