Local councillors and community leaders have joined forces to deliver vital safeguarding training to the community, following productive discussions about enhancing local safeguarding awareness and response capabilities.
Town and County Councillor Alan Smith and Town Councillor Steve Clark recently met with Reverends Rob and Bev Fitzjohn to plan a community safeguarding training course, which will be hosted at the Church of the Nazarene in August. The initiative has been made possible through funding from County Councillor Smith’s small schemes fund.
The training course aims to upskill community members with essential knowledge and practical skills to identify and respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns. Participants will learn how to recognise potential safeguarding issues and understand the proper procedures for reporting and addressing such matters within the community.
“Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility,” said Councillor Smith. “This training will provide our residents with the confidence and knowledge they need to help protect vulnerable members of our community. We’re delighted to be working with our local church partners to make this valuable resource available to everyone.”
The course represents a collaborative approach to community safety, bringing together local government and faith community leaders to address an important social need. By providing this training free of charge, organisers hope to remove barriers to participation and encourage widespread community engagement.
The course is taking place on Saturday August 2nd, times and further and booking information to follow. If you are interested and would like to know more, please contact maggie@cramlingtontowncouncil.gov.uk
