Sneak Peak of The Hub @ Cramlington

March 24, 2021

Exciting times ahead in Cramlington as a brand new community library and state of the art meeting and training facility is set to be opened for local residents in the former Your Link building!

The building will now be known as The Hub @ Cramlington and it is getting closer to opening its doors and Cramlington Town Council have been granted a sneak preview of the ongoing works ahead of a phased opening from April.

The Hub @ Cramlington will bring together residents and public and private sector partners, including Health and Education, to build upon the County Council Communities Together work and Cramlington Town Council’s enhanced focus on building partnerships in the town.

The ground floor will be home to a new community café area and library services including a dedicated children’s area.

The 1st Floor has larger open plan spaces for community groups and dedicated meeting rooms

The 2nd floor offers space for larger community activities, training events and workshops.

An open event is planned to take place in April following the planned easing of Covid restrictions.

Whilst access will be limited for a short while longer, full reopening is anticipated from the June date in the government’s road map for opening community facilities.

Library users will ultimately have extended opening hours as the building develops as a community hub.

The library will offer the full range of library services as one of the recently designated library hubs. This will include a wider choice from an improved range of books; a larger local history collection; a welcoming library space for children and young people; an evolving public access IT offer and space for a range of events and activities when these can safely take place.

The Hub @ Cramlington will be the first offer of its type in the County.

Cramlington Cllr Wayne Daley said:
“I am delighted that Cramlington will be home to the first library, training and community hub. When I secured funding for this from the Combined Authority, the vision was to bring people and facilities together so that our town could lead the way in learning, training, sharing and growing all that is best about Cramlington. Whatever your age or interest, there will be something at The Hub @ Cramlington for you”
